Horse Judging Manuals
Youth and Collegiate Horse Judging Leader Guides and Manuals are now available on-line at the TCE Bookstore - http://agrilifebookstore.org/publications_browse2.cfm?keywordid=136
Leader guides include reference material for judging team coaches and adult leaders, as well as take home worksheets for judging team members. The manual is a supplement to the leader guide, and provides additional information, as well as reasons terminology, for the judging team members. The leader guides are available in print and on CD for $25, and the manuals are available in print and on CD for $15.

Those who would like to serve as chaperones will be welcomed. The cost to attend as a chaperone will be $125 and includes housing and meals.

Fees: Entries due by May 15, 2008
$250 per participant (includes meals, housing, judging manual, notebook and t-shirt)

On-Line Horse Judging Classes Available
Texas A&M offers free on-line Horse Judging Practice
There are now performance classes available for judging on-line. Visit http http://animalscience.tamu.edu/main/academics/equine/judgingexample.html. The webpage gives a brief introduction on judging the current class and provides an introductory video, a 2-horse class for less experienced judgers, as well as a 4-horse class for more experienced judgers. The on-line judging presentations come with video of each horse, the official placing and cuts, plus an audio critique of the class and a set of reasons (typed and audio). Archived presentations of halter and performance classes are available on the webpage, as well.

Judging begins promptly at 10:00am
Early Registration: February 1st – March 27th To register, log on to www.Judgingcard.com Online entries must be submitted by March 27th. After this date you must enter on site with a late charge fee applied. On site Registration will begin at 8:30am and end at 9:30am. County Extension Agents must make ONE consolidated entry for their entire county.
Fee: Entry fee is $40.00 per team and $8.00 per alternate. The scan sheets will be provided when you arrive at the expo center. You will not be allowed to enter online after March 27th. You must enter on site the day of the contest.
On site Registration: teams may register on the day of the contest; Late fees will apply. Late Fee is $60.00 per team and $12.00 per alternate. Fees will be billed to your JudgingCard.com account. Money will not be collected on-site. Make checks payable to "Clay Ewell Educational Services".
Rules: Horse Judging Contest rules refer to the AQHA Rule book.
Eligibility: All qualified members of 4H and FFA teams may participate in the contest. This judging contest is open to anyone willing to participate.
Teams: Each 4H County or FFA Chapter may enter a limit of 2 Junior Teams and 2 Senior Teams. They may enter an unlimited number of alternates for each division.
Junior participants are ages 13 or younger as of December 31st. Team members must be designated at the beginning of the contest. A team may consist of 3 to 4 members. The top three members will be scored as a team the fourth being an alternate score. You may substitute juniors on a senior team. You may NOT substitute seniors on a junior team.
Electronics: all electronic devices are prohibited. No Talking will be allowed. You are allowed a clip board, several pencils, a blank copy of a scantron or blank paper, and an official scantron. If you are caught talking or with an electronic device you will be disqualified.
Show Barn: The Judging area will be closed to all Ag science teachers, county agents, club leaders, coaches, and spectators.
Grading Area: The grading room will be closed to everyone except the graders.
Classes: There are 8 classes with each class containing four animals. Each student will be given 10 minutes to judge each class. There will be two question classes!

Payment of Entry Fees: All entry fees are billed through the www.JudgingCard.com website.
Make checks payable to "Clay Ewell Educational Services". Please follow the payment instructions online, and DO NOT try to pay the contest host. All payments are due in a timely manner, and delinquent accounts are subject to suspension and additional late fees.

Horse Judging Contest
Contest Date: Saturday, March 29
Entry Fee: $40 per team. Payable to Clay Ewell Ed Svc
Entry Deadline: All entry fees must be paid by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday,
March 29. Your chapter has to be paid in full by the time your first judger
from your chapter enters to judge their first class. As an advisor, it is your
responsibility to check on judgingcard.com to see if your entries have been
received.
