Dripping Springs 4 H Horse Project is hosting a Horse Judging Clinic with Terri Antilley of Texas A&M University on March 7, 2009 from 1-4 PM at the Polo Club Stables on Highway 290. There is no cost to attend. Because of the limited space we will need to limit the number of horses attending, but there is no limit on those wishing to attend and learn more about Horse Judging. Terri will cover Halter, Showmanship and Western Pleasure classes. Please contact Donna Moore, 512-7868342, or Lynne Dickinson, 512-560-3819 for more information.
Terri is the voice of many of the online judging videos from Texas A&M. I would consider this a terrific (free, close, and in the afternoon) opportunity to learn more about horse judging.
This event will take place during a school day. Registrants are required to fill out an academic elgibility form and have it signed by their school and then faxed the Ag office. I do anticipate this taking most of the day, based on this past weekend’s event.
I am trying to put the horse judging manual from TAMU on the website for those interested to download.

February 12th - District 10 Horse Judging Competition - The District 10 Horse Judging qualification competition for the State 4-H Horse Show will be at the San Antonio Livestock Show . Pre-registration was required.
Teams: Teams consist of three 4-H Members in an age group. Being in a team means that you compete individually, but your score is also added to two other teammates to get a Team score. In the event more than 3 members are present in an age group, the top three individual scores make up the team. If the team goes with less than three members, the members still compete individually. There is no additional team activity apart from competing as an individual. There is not team discussion allowed or separate events that teams compete in different from individual participation.
